Morris Community Pool
Summer Employment at the Pool
The Morris Pool hires 8 - 10 local summer staff for part time & full time positions from June to September every year.
Applications will be accepted starting in January and interviews take place in February.
To apply, drop off your application in person at the Recreation Office located in the Morris Arena. Please include a
cover page that identifies which position you are applying for, your skills and qualifications for that position, and any
other experience that would benefit a position at the pool.

Cashiers
This is an entry level position that allows you to gain experience and learn skills for lifeguarding in the future. You will be responsible for collecting admission fees and proper cash handling and cashout proceedures. You will be introduced to terminology, policy & proceedures, and required to help out on deck occassionally.
Qualifications:
Minimum 13 years old with a Social Insurance Number and a completed Child Work Permit form
Valid First Aid & CPR
Must be striving to be a future lifeguard or Instructor
Must be enrolled or have completed the Bronze Cross Course
Level 1 - Assistant Lifeguards
This is a bridging position between cashiers and lifeguards. This position is offered to staff that have worked at the pool and have turned 16 during the season. Cashiers will be trained with the lifeguard staff on deck prior to taking the NLS course.
Qualifications:
Minimum 16 years old
Bronze Cross Certification
Valid First Aid & CPR
Must be enrolling in further Lifeguard Certification Courses - National Lifeguard Service Award (NLS)
Level 2 - Lifeguard Only
This is for individuals who are interested in Lifeguarding only.
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years old
Must have NLS certification
Must have valid First Aid & CPR
Level 2- Swimming Lesson Instructor Only
This is for individuals who are interested in teaching swimming lessons only.
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years old
Must have Assistant Water Safety Instructor (aWSI)
Must have completed or will be completing the Water Safety Instructor Course (WSI) in near future
Must have valid First Aid & CPR
Level 3- Lifeguard & Swimming Lesson Instructor
This is for individuals who want to lifeguard as well as instruct swimming lessons
Qualifications:
Must be 16 years old
Must have Water Safety Instructor (WSI) course
Must have National Lifeguard Service Award (NLS)
Musst have valid First Aid & CPR
Course information
The National Lifeguard Service Award is offered through The Manitoba Lifesaving Society
The Assistant Water Safety and Water Safety Instructor courses are offered through Red Cross
Employee Benefits
We reimburse 50% of aWSI, WSI & NLS courses for employees in good standing who commit to one additional year of service after attaining certification.
The employee pay scale is evaluated every year and will be posted on the website in early March.
Employee wages are competitive with the aquatic facilities around Morris.
Employees will recieve additional wage with every returning year of service.
