Sports and Recreation Morris and area is very lucky to have a very energetic Recreation Director as well as a group of very dedicated volunteers. This means that we have many different recreational opportunities available to you.
Winter recreational activities revolve around the Morris
Arena; an indoor hockey arena fitted with artificial ice. The arena is home
to the Morris/St.Jean Minor Hockey Association, as well as the Morris Ringette Association.
The figure skating program offered is registered with Skate Canada and is taught by qualified instructors. As well, there is recreational
and pleasure skating for the young and old alike. Call (204) 746-2606.
Curling is offered from November to March. We are located on the Stampede Grounds
at the south end of Morris. Our facility has 6 sheets of artificial ice. We offer:
Monday Mixed League, Tuesday Men's League, and Wednesday Ladies League. The
cost for Mixed, Men's and Ladies is $150 per season for each night. Junior and
Daytime curling are offered but the day and time have not been determined yet.
Other recreational opportunities include: · An Annual Winter Carnival · Sporting activities such as annual hockey tournaments; golf tournaments and fishing derbies. · Baseball and soccer facilities. · Stampede Kick-off and Street dance. · Snowmobile Derbies. · Riverview Golf & Country Club, a par 36, nine hole golf course along the scenic Red River. · Davidson Memorial Swimming Pool · Playgrounds
Recreation activities include lessons, as
well as supervised
swimming fun at the Davidson Memorial Pool,
a heated outdoor Junior Olympic pool with two diving boards.
Organized baseball is held at the four school and four town operated baseball diamonds. As well, there are picturesque serviced camping and picnic facilities. A boat dock and launch is located at the Red River. There are plenty of other outdoor activities including; horseshoe pitches, soccer fields, outdoor basketball and sand volleyball courts.
The Riverview Golf and Country Club is a 2,875 yard, par 36, nine hole golf course with grass greens and a licensed club house. The course is open to the public and offers golf club and cart rentals and a pro shop.
The new Geordie Davidson Memorial Center is one place where senior citizens can meet and participate in organized activities. The Center, located at the Parkside Villa is equipped with a modern kitchen, dining room, lounge and recreational area.
